Surfshark vs Private Internet Access in Australia
Surfshark and Private Internet Access (PIA) both bill in Australian dollars, and Surfshark puts no limit on devices. PIA's site does not allow our price checker, so we check its price by hand each week. We retested Surfshark from Melbourne in October 2026; our PIA results date from late 2021.
On our latest figures, Surfshark was tested by us more recently; Private Internet Access is cheaper per month and lists servers in more countries.
Surfshark costs from A$3.49 a month on its cheapest plan, and Private Internet Access from A$2.79. That makes Private Internet Access about A$0.70 a month cheaper on current prices. Both offer a 30-day money-back period. Both cover unlimited devices. Surfshark lists servers in 100 countries and Private Internet Access in 113. On a local server in our own tests, Surfshark kept 94% of our download speed (October 2026) and Private Internet Access 44% (late 2021). Those results come from different test rounds on different connections, so compare them with care. Tested on an account Surfshark gave us free of charge (16–25 Oct 2026). In our current calculated comparison, Surfshark is number 1; Private Internet Access is not ranked, as we have no price for it.
