How to Watch Hulu in Australia

For years the honest answer to “how do I watch Hulu in Australia?” was “with difficulty”. That changed in October 2025. Hulu is now here, sort of, and for most people the simplest way to watch Hulu shows in Australia is the Disney+ subscription they may already have.
Hulu in Australia is part of Disney+
On 9 October 2025 Disney replaced the Star section of Disney+ in Australia and New Zealand with a Hulu tile. It is the same idea as before under a new name: the grown-up, general-entertainment side of Disney+, which is where Hulu’s own series sit for international viewers.
So if the show you are after is a Hulu original, open Disney+ and look under Hulu before doing anything more complicated.
What you do not get
Hulu on Disney+ in Australia is not the same thing as Hulu in the United States.
- The US catalogue is bigger. American Hulu carries next-day episodes from US television networks and a large library of licensed shows and films. Much of that is not on Disney+ here.
- Some Hulu shows live elsewhere in Australia. Before the rebrand, a number of Hulu series were licensed to other Australian streaming services, and some are still there. If a title is not on Disney+, search for it by name to see who has it locally.
- There is no Hulu live TV. The live television package is a US product.
Can you get US Hulu in Australia with a VPN?
This is the part most guides skip over. A VPN with American servers can make you appear to be in the United States, but that is only one of the hurdles.
- Payment. US Hulu has historically required a US payment method to sign up. A VPN does nothing about that.
- Blocking. Hulu blocks VPN addresses it recognises, so a server that works one week may not the next.
- Terms of use. Hulu’s terms limit the service to the United States. Using a VPN is legal in Australia, but it would be against those terms.
Which VPNs get through changes from month to month as Hulu updates its blocks, so the practical approach is to choose a provider with a money-back guarantee and test it in the first week. When we tested VPNs from Melbourne in 2021 and 2022, results with US services varied widely between providers and even between servers; our notes are in each of our VPN reviews.
If you already have a US Hulu account, from living there for instance, a VPN with US servers is the tool for keeping it going while you are in Australia, with the caveats above.
VPNs with US servers and a refund period
If you want to try, choose a provider with a money-back guarantee so you are not stuck with it. Current prices and refund periods:
| VPN | Lowest monthly price | Renewal price | Money-back | Countries | Devices | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | A$4.79 27 months, A$129.33 upfront | A$187.08 per 1 year | 30 days | 150 | 10 | Visit NordVPN |
| 2 | A$3.49 27 months, A$94.23 upfront | – | 30 days | 100 | Unlimited | Visit Surfshark |
| 3 | US$2.99 (about A$4.29) 28 months, US$83.72 upfront | US$99.95 per 1 year | 30 days | 113 | – | Visit ExpressVPN |
| 4 | A$3.27 26 months, A$85.02 upfront | A$85.02 per 1 year | 45 days | 100 | 7 | Visit CyberGhost |
| 5 | US$3.49 (about A$5.00) 2 years, US$83.76 upfront | US$83.88 per 1 year | 30 days | 149 | 10 | Visit Proton VPN |
– means the provider does not publish that detail on its pricing page. Prices shown in US$ are published in that currency; the Australian-dollar figure is approximate, converted at the European Central Bank euro reference rates for 12 Oct 2026 (US$1 = A$1.43).
The short version
- Want a Hulu original? Check the Hulu tile in Disney+.
- Not there? Search the title; another Australian service may hold it.
- Want the full US service? You need a US account as well as a VPN, and it may not work.
